Enjoying Antique Chair Styles

For the most part my style is eclectic when it comes to my furniture choices.  I like a modern comfortable sofa mixed with a French country coffee table and antique chair styles.  In other words, I like to mix it up when it comes to decorating.  The best part about buying furniture is shopping for it.  This is especially true when it comes to antique furniture.  There is nothing more exciting then spending a glorious Saturday out antiquing and see all of the great pieces that are available.  When it comes to antique furniture there are many different periods and styles.  That makes finding a special piece a wonderful mystery.  I know that when I buy a new piece I find a special place for it to go and I cherish the piece.

Many of the antique chair styles that I have purchased have had tapestry fabric for the seating area.  Usually the fabric is beautiful but in many cases it is in need of repair or replacement.  In those cases I have turned to a friend who is a furniture restorer.  He is able to take my antique furniture and make it look as good as it did when it was new.  In many cases he can repair the fabric but if need be he will replace it with a similar style fabric to keep the look consistent.  As I mentioned there are many different styles of antique furniture and antique chair styles are no exception.  I like the look of a darker wood with a more ornate design.  Wood carvings have always fascinated me and antiques usually have some wonderful, original hand carved designs.

There are many people who have whole rooms of antiques furniture.  I like to blend modern with antiques and everything in between.  To me this makes antique furniture styles stand out in a space and speak for themselves.  If I had to choose my most recent favorite antique style it would fall somewhere within an early American style.  I love the look of early American furniture.  The darker woods wtih the clean lines.  Lately I have also spent some of my time in antique shops that have more of a mission stlye to their antiques.  Furniture styles have changed quite a bit over the years.  Antique furniture styles show us the art and beauty of creative design.  Chairs are mass manufactures these days.  Back then they were made one at a time.
